Fall 2012 Home Interiors Trend

Happy Friday everyone!  It’s been a whirlwind month so far, with new client projects and a lot of progress on our Rooms That Rock 4 Chemo project in Mammoth, CA.  Here is a ‘before’ glimpse of the room I’m transforming.  Erica Wells at Mammoth Hospital has been such a help in getting our team everything we need to design the room prior to the installation, which will hopefully be next month. Thank you, Erica!! You are an angel.

Not a very comfortable, nor soothing place to have chemotherapy, right?  Well, we are going to take this room to an entirely new level of comfort!  Stay tuned for updates over the next month or so.

Inspired by Fashion Week, look for black and gold to make an appearance this Fall in home interiors.  Top fashion houses like Dolce and Gabbana and Gucci all showed heavy use of both colors in their line.

Also interesting is the nod to the Art Deco period, with a lot of straight lines.

To pull off this strong, statement-making color combination, you need a place for the eye to rest, like white, creme or a neutral. Otherwise, while beautiful, it can come across as a bit in-your-face.

I absolutely LOVE the use of an almost violet-y midnight blue on the walls here. It takes the room to an entirely different place.

Accessories are an easy way to add in these colors if you don’t want to immerse yourself in them.

What do you think? Are gold and black too strong to be used heavily in home interiors or can you see using them in small doses?
