2013 Pasadena Showcase House of Design Review

This year marks the 49th year of the Pasadena Showcase House of Design, which benefits youths in art here in the LA area.  I had the pleasure of being one of 30,000 people to visit this year and believe this home was one of the best in recent memory.  The artistry and creativity of the designers and tradespeople was excellent…

and the ease with which the house flowed was just amazing. They paid homage to details of the 1940’s when the home was built, and artfully blended that with modern materials, finishes and furnishings.

I truly believe that this level of detail is what we all find so alluring and enchanting about design, so here are a few pictures, which more accurately show the beauty and detail! The drapery in the Library are tucked between the cabinetry and the windows, blending seamlessly to the eye.

This is one of the bedrooms upstairs which was striking, with the contrast between light and dark and the addition of the raspberry details, yet comfortable. I loved the built in nightstands and the coziness of the pediment above the bed…

Maya Williams did an amazing job on the living room, infusing a gorgeous peacock bluegreen fabric against hand-painted wall panels…

And Reaume Construction infused the ceiling above the soaking tub in the top-to-bottom marble bath with LED lights that glowed and sparkled as we walked through…

And the detail didn’t stop once I left the house. The dining pavilion was just as dramatic and detailed as the house, and so comfortable I didn’t want to leave!

All in all a wonderful day, with so many more rooms and pics I just don’t have room to post here.  If you are in LA or Orange County and have a moment to stop in next year, you won’t be disappointed!
