Designing Your Home for Pets
It’s been awhile since our last blog post and I’m happy to have a few quiet moments this morning to put together something fun and lighthearted! Clients often ask me to design with various things in mind: large family gatherings, young children, frequent visitors, the ability to move from the inside to an outside space, etc. However, more often than not, you would be surprised how often clients take into account their pets when we first discuss what they have in mind for their design concept!
I think it’s natural for homeowners to be concerned about the comfort of their pet, however I find that more often than not they are also concerned, thankfully, about how their pets will use the space and how their accessories, like beds and toys, will look when we’re finished with the overall design.
To help your pets transition from taking over the furniture…
here are a few fun ideas to make sure your pets also have their own stylish place in your home!
Cat hammock, anyone?
This cat cube actually fits rather well into the overall design concept in this living room.
Pets’ enclosures should always be well ventilated, with easy access in and out. I love that this nightstand / dog bed has large doors to accommodate the dog and to close off the sight of the bed and toys when not in use.
All in all, our pets are almost always a daily part of our lives and appreciate the comfort and care we give them. Why not make their accessories part of the design concept?
