Interior Design for a Summer Home: Part 2
One of the most enjoyable elements of Summer is time with family and friends…the long, warm days beg for a simpler way of doing most everything, including entertaining. I love the relaxed way my parents would entertain at our home when I was young. We had a large yard with more than enough space for family and friends to gather, which was a necessity given the smaller size of our home! I can remember my mother scrambling for extra seating for the guests that preferred to stay indoors or the few extra people that inevitably showed up, usually neighbors who heard the music and came over to see what it was all about.
Designing any space is always about creating versatility and function, all wrapped in a beautiful package, and it is particularly important in smaller spaces. If you’re wondering how to create additional functionality, beautifully in your home this Summer, ottomans would be a good addition to your list.
A pair of these Palmer ottomans at the foot of a bed would be striking!
I can see how this service ottoman would be most useful for setting out light refreshments or as a place for guests to set their drinks. They could perch around the edge, too.
This pretty, diminutive ottoman would be a perfect place for your younger, smaller guests to enjoy time with each other!
I am in love with the bamboo legs on these gorgeous, versatile and super stylish ottomans from Baker. These, too, would look terrific at the foot of a bed or tucked under a console table, ready to be put to use when company arrives.
Anthropologie did an amazing job with their versatile Rhys ottoman. I imagine this would blend perfectly into a contemporary room, with its soft leather and rich color.
For the outdoors, one of these ottomans would look amazing by the pool or on the patio, while creating a fun place for guests to gather.
Throwing an evening party? This outdoor ottoman from Jeffan lights up while being a focal point and creating a bit of visual interest.
There are so many ways to add versatility, beauty and comfort to your home and outdoor areas this Summer. My wish for you is that you are able to create a space that you and your guests can enjoy for many months to come!
